Festival of sound and image with electronica as key-tone

Performances of Faust, Tony Conrad, Funkstörung, Phil Niblock and Evan Parker

The 2006 (seventh) edition of the )toon) festival in Haarlem (near Amsterdam) takes place from April 4 to 9. The festival for electronics in sound and art will be held at different venues around town. Two artists who are pioneers on this field play an important role on this festival: the American composer, filmer and videoartist Tony Conrad and the German artist and musician Christina Kubisch. Both artists have exhibitons and performances throughout the centre of Haarlem.

A few of the other artists performing are:
the legendary German krautrock collective Faust, who are highly influenced by the experimental ‘drones’ from Tony Conrad, electro outfit Funkstörung (with special guest former Einsturzende Neubauten drummer FM Einheit), the ever adventurous Phill Niblock, saxplayer Evan Parker, Detroit-techno originals Aux 88 and the new folkies from Sweden Es, Islaja and Kiila.

Festival locations
Patronaat, Nieuwe Vide, Lichtfabriek, Stalker, Grasland, de Toneelschuur, Het Seinwezen, Philharmonie and Galerie De Schone Kunsten, all in Haarlem.

Prices are different for each event. See the overall program on this site. An overall ticket for the festival (passe-partout) is by far the best deal if you want to visit more than one concert/event: 30 EUR.
